Mikayla Harris

Mikayla Harris is a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician-Instructor who has assisted hundreds of caregivers with the proper installation and use of car seats and boosters.
Mikayla’s passion for car seat safety began in 2010 while living in the DFW area. She spent significant time in online forums learning about and advocating for the importance of child passenger safety.
In 2019, she was finally able to attend a CPST course. After becoming certified, Mikayla was asked to join the admin team for 2 online car seat groups on Facebook, reaching approximately 250,000 members nationwide combined.
When Mikayla moved to Oklahoma City in 2021, she soon connected with Safe Kids Oklahoma and continues to assist with multiple car seat check events every month. In 2022, she was the runner-up nominee for Metro Child Passenger Safety Technician of the Year.
Mikayla also worked for the NIH Car Seat Study lead by the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a remote and onsite CPST, as well as research assistant. In 2023, she received the Research Tech of the Year award presented at the Martha Collar ceremony during the national Kidz in Motion conference.
Mikayla has completed the additional School Bus training as well as Safe Travel for All Children, which focuses on car seat options for children with uncommon transportation considerations, such as disabilities.
She became a CPST-Instructor in October 2023 and has helped train CPSTs in Lawton, Duncan, and right here in Oklahoma City.
